Health Industry vs Rate Regulation
10 02 2010 Autor: Administrator
Big names in the health insurance industry like Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Kaiser, Health Net, and PacifiCare are giving tough opposition sinking legislation to make an overview of insurance rate increases. AB 1554 was supposed to require HMOs and other health insurance providers to have approval first from the state before they could raise their health insurance rate. Unfortunately or fortunately, the bill did not push through in the Senate Health Committee. The vote result is 5 “Aye” against 4 “No”. As a rule, there should be six votes to approve the passage of the bill. Because of this, people of California have no choice but to pay higher premiums every year.
