Obama healthcare policy faces birth pains

10 02 2009 Autor: Sherill

President Barack Obama’s heart may be in the right place, but that’s not enough to take the country out of the dire straits it been in for the past several months.

In a recent report, it is shown that President Obama’s efforts to reform healthcare are already bumping into hurdles this early in the game.

Take a look at a part of the full article.

Efforts by President Obama to reform the U.S. health care system are “likely to be fraught with detours, potholes and perils” based on initial concerns about related provisions in his fiscal year 2010 budget proposal, as well as the current federal deficit. The proposal, which Obama released last week, includes a $634 billion reserve fund to help finance an expansion of health insurance to all U.S. residents.

Of course, it is too early in the game to judge, but at least there’s already some healthy discussion going on about the future of America’s health care policies. However, many more people are hoping for more concrete and perceivable action whose effects they themselves can feel. With many losing their jobs and many more already laid-off, their future is in the hands of the State, and the faster these birth pains are assuaged, then the faster these people will have access to better health care.
